Matt,

Sorry, I've been out of the loop the last few days. It'd be a pleasure to write a review on freetalk internet phone. Let me PM over to you.

Dan

Hi My friend

I use sipgate and like ivor remarkedsince the upgrade in april it has got even better in my opinion I have been using it since december last year and have found very few pproblems with it and that also goes with the setup and outtages.

I have got a standard cordless phone and my mother and dad who use it because it is cheaper I jsut call itthe fee phone as they are calling my bro in london and my sister in machester and they don't re remarked on realise it. they haveremarked on the odd occasional echo but i find it negligble

hmmmm Vonage usage update!
I have made 2 calls recently on Vonage but had problems with the calls. First call I had a warbling sound like the caller was under water! I called Vonage and they advised me to remove any QOS settings which I subsequently did. That did seem to improve things although 2 days ago i made another call and although I could hear the othe rpary very clearly, they could not make me out and stated there was alot of crackling on the line and was of poor audio quality. It got so bad that the other party requested he call me back on another line. So I offered him my normal landline number and everything was fine after that. Does anyone know of any solutions to this? I am using Telewest 4 Mb service with 384kps upload. Using Vonage Pap2 adaptor plugged into a linksys WRT54 wireless router. No other parties were downloading at ime of both calls.

Sorry to sound negative but there is nothing you can do!

The problem is not your end but caused due to the fact all vonage servers are located in the US!

Even though vonage trade in the uk under vonage.co.uk don't be fooled, all there services are run using their US servers etc.....

You will find sometimes the call quality is ok and all of a sudden boom it's crap!

Put it this way... If you call your next door neighbour from your vonage line the call goes half way round the world and back before it connects...

All I can do is recommend you here: www.vonage-forum.com and choose the uk forums you will find your not alone!

Thanks acoolwelshbloke. That does make alot of sense actually. Is it the same with Freetalk? I have never had any similar call quality issues with Freetalk so can I assume its routed via UK servers?

To be honest Fred I have not used freetalk so I can't really comment on them.
