Default USB voip phones - any freeware config software

Just bought a cheap USB voip phone for my daughter to use at uni
I want to set her laptop up with one of the sipdiscount or similar but use
the usb phone
I have installed latest x-lite and set it up but there is no where to
configure the handset keys to the dialler
Is there any freeware drivers etc that can do this

Thanks

I don't know how much you are intending to spend but for the price of
some of these Skype add-ons you can buy an ATA that doesn't need a
computer to work. A phone that you will be able to ring any time
without the computer being switched on. It is worth some thought.

<SNIP>

The OP said it was for his daughter at University. If she is in halls
or doesn't have access to the router then she will be unable to forward
the necessary ports. There are workarounds, but not as easy as a skype
handset.

Edit: The OP also said he was planning on using it with sipdiscount, has
anybody tested this without port forwarding?

If Tesco are still doing it, then theirs is OK. (The phone that is, not
the VoIP package ;-) £9.99 when I last looked! Very cheap way to get a
usb "phone" ...

If sipdiscount provide a STUN server and the softphone/ATA supports it
then you ought to be OK without port forwarding. (at least thats been
my experience so-far)

But persuading the providers to support IAX2 and persuading more phone/ATA
vendors to support it too would be better...
