A few days ago on uk.t.m Ivor was complaining at having to complete a
GPRS connection using a mobile phone in order to auto-update the date
and time, an operation which would have cost less than 1p.

Ivor does not like to pay for any telephone calls Jon and seems to
think that the worst voip provider on the planet is bloody marvelous
because it gives out phone numbers for free and masquerades has a UK
based company by having a UK web address .

question was

No it isn't. Its the same as other VOIP companies.

You ignorance, whilst expected is astounding
Skype Out is the same and in some cases cheaper than certain VOIP
setups

Tell the full story, Jon. Orange charge for an operation that most if not
all other operators don't. Why should I pay for something that is free
elsewhere..? The amount is irrelevant. And please explain how the charge
could be *less* than 1p without being zero.

(a) Please cite *proof* that Sipgate (you do mean them when you say "they"
Ron, don't you..!) are the worst provider on the planet.

(b) They do not masquerade as a UK based company, nothing on their site
says this, the contact details page clearly states where they are based.

I really despair about you, Ron. Only you could turn a debate about Tesco
into a rant against a company you aren't even a customer of.

Maybe, but that's not what you said.

Your spelling is somewhat suspect, along with your argument.

Let's look at the facts, shall we?

UK DDI
Sipgate, 0 quid for the >2 years I've had it
Skype, 29 USD a year

Voicemail
Sipgate, 0 quid for the >2 years I've had it
Skype, 15 EUR a year

Calls to UK geographic
Sipgate, 1.19p/minute
Skype, 1.4p/minute

You can't seriously be suggesting that is 'the same', although your
sobriquet is 'ignore the facts', so who knows.

And a little addendum, Skype will wipe any SkypeOut credit you buy if you
don't use the service often enough, a 'feature' that Sipgate fortunately
haven't adopted.
