Provisioning Polycom IP501

I got a bunch of polycom phones preconfigured from a vendor. I want to
provision them centrally from an ftp server. I was able to set up ftp
server and successful upgrade boot rom and configs however it wiped out the
my test phones config and gave it a default config. Is there a way to merge
the preconfigured phones config with a new one so I can update the firmware
on these phones without wiping out all the settings?
