Know little about this, so please excuse the newbie-ness.
As far as I can tell, I need to do the following (please correct me if I'm wrong): Set up a 'VoxLite' Account with Voxalot, which allowes one SIP Registration. Set Voxalot up to work with VoipCheap.com using the SIP Settings on the VoipCheap.com website. (if there's anything else I need to know about this part, please let me know) Then all calls should (if I'm right) ring on our VoipCheap.com Account? Thanks. |

Your heading involves 'forward calls' and your message 'registration'. If you have an incoming number, with voipcheap, and you register the account with voxalot - then you register voxalot on your ATA, then it will ring your phone when you get an incoming call to your voipcheap number. Is that what you wanted to know? OR If you were wanting to FORWARD calls, via voipcheap, then there is no necessity for registration. You simply forward the calls to whatever number you want and use voipcheap as your provider. Is that what you wanted to know? --- Remove 'no_spam_' from email address. You can use another service provider to get your phone number. My recommendation is to register with orbtalk for a free geographic number and use the following settings on voxalot to set them up when you have done this: Provider Name* Orbtalk Username* 1234567 Codecs* alaw;g726;g729;g723 Host* talk.orbtalk.co.uk Port* 5060 Active* Yes SIP Register* Yes Optimize Audio Path No where 1234567 is your Orbtalk user name. Other settings given by Orbtalk are known to fail. Sipgate blocks Voxalot. Then set up your VoipCheap.com account as follows: Provider Name* VoipCheap Username* username Codecs* alaw;g726;g729;g723 Host* sip.voipcheap.com Port* 5060 Active* Yes SIP Register* No Optimize Audio Path No where username is your VoipCheap user name. You will then need to put your voxalot account information into your ata. To route outgoing calls via voipcheap, you will need to set up a dial plan in voxalot. The voxalot forum gives lots of examples but you will need to remember to put in dial prefixes, for example: Pattern Replacement Provider _00Z. ${EXTEN} VoIPCheap - dials international numbers as is _0Z. 0044${EXTEN:1} VoIPCheap - converts number 01274234567 into 00441274234567 _N. 00441274${EXTEN} VoIPCheap - converts number 234567 into 00441274234567 Remember to use the full stops (wildcard), and the 0s are zeroes! VoIPCheap.co.uk did give out free UK geo numbers some time ago, and I still keep my account a few pence in credit and so far I have managed to keep the number, (a particularly memorable 0161 number as it happens). When voxalot allowed free registrations, I couldn't get any of my incoming accounts to reliably register, I tried my voipcheap.co.uk, Orbtalk & Sipgate accounts. Are things any better now you have to pay? -- Graham %Profound_observation% |

Sipgate doesn't like Voxalot, nominally because you have to entrust them with your password so they are blacklisted. Apparently it occasionally works with the US server, but that could be because there are two proxy servers and only one may be blacklisted. But the good news is I have got Voxalot working reliably with 4 or 5 different providers. They also now allow provider-based forwarding rules, so I can now stop using my ata to forward which gives better quality. |
