Got a reply through email from Chris, not sure if I'm entitled to
forward it here, but the problem lies in a faulty link between two
datacentres where the voip.co.uk infrastructure is hosted.
It's not a voip.co.uk failure, nor they can do anything about it. The
two datacentres' techies are working flat out to bring back up the
link.
As soon as this issue is resolved - no timescale known yet -
everything should be back to normal.

Cheers

Thanks for posting this. At least my mind is at rest in some respects.

I'll second that - useful to know what's happening.

More info:

Apparently, there is a fault between Redbus Interhouse Harbour Exchange
(HEX) and Redbus Interhouse Sovereign House (SOV) in Docklands.

voip.co.uk's core servers are in one part and their PSTN gateways in the
other - hence calls between voip.co.uk hosted numbers are working, but
there is no connectivity to/from the outside world.

Sure beats the usual Redbus power outage - variety is the spice of life etc.

Redundancy - my arse.

Hope heads roll.

Never use email then ? I emailed them at 3.45 and Chris came back to
me within seconds saying systems where fine but the gateway which they
do not have control over was down and could not give a time for it to
be up and running again.
Good job it wasn't Sipgate or I would have had to wait for two days
for a reply and maybe four for the service to be resumed .

Got an email from Chris at 21.41 saying they are still 'mopping up', but
we have been on since 17.15.
