Hi Folks,
I'll start off by saying that VoIP is pretty new to me, let alone PBX stuff, so apologies for the extremely newbie questions! I'm having my home office refitted next week, so now seems like a good time to get myself a PBX system. At the moment I have 2 landlines and 2 VoIP lines. The VoIP lines are used for Telephone and Fax, with US numbers (I do a lot of work with US companies), the landlines are used for Telephone and Fax here in the UK. I want to reduce my system to basically having only one telephone (which will take calls from the UK landline, and US VoIP number), and 1 fax machine (again, from the UK landline and US VoIP number). Extra features such as music on hold, queuing etc would be a huge benefit. I'm hoping to have a relatively simple and straightforward setup if I can. From my brief searching, it would seem a combination of the Linksys SPA9000 and SPA400 would give me exactly what I need. However, not all the reviews I've read have been too favorable - albeit most of them dated back in 2006. So, my question is - will this combination work for me? I would also like to use a Cisco 7970G phone, which I'll admit is purely down to the fact that I think it looks good - any reason this wouldn't work? Assuming these will work, I have a few questions mainly relating to the SPA9000; - Can I 'map' lines to devices (i.e make sure the specified landline and voip line go to the fax, and the other 2 go to the phone)? - I have a dual-wan router, will the SPA9000 work ok with this? I ask because I understand it has a router built-in, and from previous experience having multiple routers on the same network can be a right b***er to configure! - Can I specify the SPA9000 only uses a certain line for outgoing calls (one of my landlines has unlimited national calls 24/7). Back to the original point, if this isn't the best solution, is there anything else that will work better? I would prefer not to get in to building an Asterix system if I can avoid it, and I'd like to keep the budget as close to £500 as I possibly can. Any help and advice would be very much appreciated! :-) |
