which codec

My phone is currently set to use codecs in the follwoing order:

G.729a
G.726
G.711a
G.711u

This is 'factory set' in that I've not played with it yet ;)

so a general 'what codec are you guys using and have best sucess with'
I'm broadband user with around a 5Mb connection (MaxADSL).

G.711u is most common i think, and it gives best quailty on a good connection.

I use G.711u for most of my calls, just some i use gsm, but that is not avilable on most devices it seems.

According to my adaptor (Linksys) the following apply:

Best (G.711u Require 64k Bandwidth)
Best (G.711a Require 64k Bandwidth)
Good (G.726-40 Require 40k Bandwidth)
Good (G.726-32 Require 32k Bandwidth
Good (G.729 Require 8k Bandwidth
Normal (G.726-24 Require 24k Bandwidth)
Normal (G.726-16 Require 16k Bandwidth
Normal (G.723 Require 7k Bandwidth)
