Browsing for VoIP information on the web (web 2.0 if you like), it occurred to me that there is a whole host of useful multimedia information out there.
Logging onto Time's "Invention of the Year", YouTube, gave me some useful results. The first is a 39 min presentation by Steven Shephard back in Aug 2006 'VoIP 101 for Business: What buyers & sellers need to know'. This is a particularly useful overview of VoIP, although somewhat fleeting, touching on VoIP as a new technology and the integration of business applications, technological convergence and the future of IMS (IP Multimedia Subsytems). Another interesting link I found (albeit 5 mins into the video) looks at the implications of community WiFi on the telecommunications industry. Of particular focus the emergence of dual GSM/WiFi phones and free community WiFi hotpots.
Have a look on YouTube: YouTube - Community Wi-Fi |
