Doesn't seem much to ask. I need a VoIP router that is reliable and feature rich.
I would like: 1. 99% uptime. 2. Lifeline (PSTN fallback) FXO option. 3. Ability to call in on normal BT number. 4. Ability to route outgoing calls over different VoIP providers or BT (999/112 etc). 5. two or more FXS phone ports. Internal ADSL modem is a nice to have, but not essential. I have fairly reliable ADSL line on Draytek and Billion modems. My VoIP experiences to date: 1. Billion 7202VGP - okay but cannot send DTMF to voip.co.uk voicemail (there is no way to send inline DTMF yet). Very limited and almost incomprehensible 'dial plans' 2, Zyxel 2002L - better, but does not notice the recall button (TBR) so advanced features (call waiting etc) are not available. Call routing based on number dialled completely absent. 3. Draytek 2700V - reboots sometimes on an incoming VoIP call - Can reproduce it 100% of the time if you call out on VoIP1 back into VoIP2. Very annoying as you lose phone and internet at the same time. (Callers also had difficulty hearing me, but that may be a setting I never found) 4. Fritz!Box Fon - I have had 2 so far and neither stays connected to DSL for more than a minute or 2 - never even got round to trying the VoIP functions as not staying sync'd to DSL is a bit of a showstopper. I have spent several £100's on all this stuff and still haven't got an acceptable solution. The Draytek 2700 and Fritz!Box looked great on paper, but both have serious problems. My question is - who has developed a reliable VoIP router? Has anyone found one? Am I asking for too much? Thanks, - David |
