Default BTBroadbandClassic

I have been with btbroadband for a fair while as i found it easier topay withphone bill. I recently tried to regrade to 8mb. I was toldi am a broadband classic account and that i couldn'thave the 8mb regrade, i could however stay on this 2mb link and rot for all eternity. The options i was offered for the upgrade was to either take a download limit hit which was a major hit or shell out 24 quid extra a year. I asked why to the customer services and they said your a classic customer (shock horror) the system doesn't recognise me and yet it take my money every month. And on it's website it says available to all existing customers.

My advice guys and gals look elsewhere. They did however try and flog me broadband talk as an alternative and mess with my calling option.

How much did they want to reduce your downloads by? I have a capped download and regularly exceed it - they have never been in touch about.....

by roughly 14gb per month. to just 6gb. Being in the it industry i quite often download a new os or two to evaluate them. I don't always hit it that hard but when i do it is because i need something. I have read about some pissy letters being sent out to bt users who have exceeded their limit. I have a problem with my eyesight and being unempoloyed as well I can't justify the extra 2 quid per month to get what i am getting now the only difference would be the allegedly free regrade subject to a 12 month contract which isn't available to me for some wierd reason despite bt#'s site saying it is available to ALL existing customers.

Wow, thats a big drop in limit. I can see why you chose to stay on your current package.

Well I have got to be honest it is a nice package i am called broadband classic. And I was told that I am a broadband classic user and that i am not entitled o the free regrade. I am far from happy that they i.e bt has chosen thiscourse. I amomplaining and find that their web page is misleading which says and i quote

Q. Is the new service available to all existing BT Broadband customers?
A. Up to 8Mb BT Broadband is available to existing 1Mb and 2Mb BT Broadband customers.

Q. Will it cost me any extra?
A. No - up to 8Mb BT Broadband costs the same as our existing Broadband services.
