Markie,

Basically its a method of authenticating you via your IP address instead of you usual username and password. For some reason the voipfone system has issues with asterisk boxes keeping registration, and this was the only method i found of resolving it.

You'll need a static IP address off your ISP, some charge extra for it, some don't. Find out what your IP is, stick it in a message to their tech support, and demand it to be switched on!

One of the moderators on here has actually just started working for them, so drop me a PM if you don’t get anywhere and i'll see if he can help you out.

Hope this helps,

Matt

Groovy ... thanks for that Matt.
Will they be able to do this for both my accounts? I have 2 VoipFone user accounts on the same server, not extensions.

Hmmm.... im not entierly sure, but thinking it through i cant see why you couldn't have both accounts on IP auth for the same server....

I'll find out...

On a side note, how do you find your Dratek router?

Looking for a new one at home you see.

I'm assuming it can handle multiple static IP's okay?

Give me an out of 10.

Matt

I have the 2800VG......As far as routers go it has all the bells and whistles.
Handles Public & private IP addresses simultaneously.
Current firmware is a bit buggy, and many people complain about constant router reboots. I think it might be a heat thing. There is a piece of black foam padding right on top of the heatsink, but once I removed that the rebooting seemed to dissapear. (not that I really had a problem in the first place)
I havent really used the wireless facilities yet, but will once I get my media streamer
It's a huge pity that 2800VG only has 2xFXS ports and no FXO ports.

There is also a problem with running a few secure sites, and MSN is a pain in the butt. (couldnt run the MS update site) There is a fix fot that however by changing the MTU values on both the router and all machines that access the router. All these fixes (problems) have been dealt with in some or other way on the Draytec user forum, so no real problem there either.

If I had to give the router a mark out of /10 I would give it an 9/10 only because of the firmware problems.
