I have upgrated ordinary phone to use it as a cordless handset and got a low cost solution. It is coneected directly to the sound card. Look at http://beep.selfip.com. The keypad does not work in such connection. But if you are in front of computer you do not need it. But all other thinks are great! No drivers. No special software. Just plug in 3.5mm sockets. If you still want usb. Then by cheap dongle and connect 3.5mm plugs into it - the phone after this will be usb connected. You may choose the right donle for OS you use. I work in linux and there are no problems with this phone.
