Is that a typing error or are you really getting 12kbps upstream speed?
You wont get VoIP to work using such a slow speed no matter what you
do. G.729 requires about 30kbps in either direction for a slight
sacrifice in voice quality. In reality you'll probably need at least a
56kbps connection. You'll find most VoIP service providers support the
g729 codec and most commercial hardware does to. If you are using
Asterisk you'll have to buy licenses from Digium for about £20 each.
