An afterthought,

Asterisk, and the new asterisk@home replacement trixbox, can both be configured to call out with the cheapest provider for that particular call.

Perhaps this is a hole to be filled by a new company... an everyday none techy service that will route your call the cheapest route... not everyone has computer junk lying around that they can turn in to a nice little asterisk box, or the time and know how for that matter!

If a service like that did exist, then eventualy it would negate compaines reason for having higher inter provider charges, then perhaps they would give up and make it all free!

Does any of that make sense? Its been a long day!
