I am far from an expert.....and do not understand the
above.....however, I have only experienced problems with Asterisk's
email when the hostname didn't match my fully qualified domeain or
DynDNS hostname.

To be sure, at a console, logged in as root, type:
hostname "matt.dydns.hostname" - then press enter.
(without the quotes & wth your /actual/ hostnam, of course)
