Indeed. If usage is high enough there are significant savings to be had.
Just by implementing VOIP in the shop I have been able to give our card
terminal it's own dedicated line (telewest) instead of sharing it with a
phone by adding 2 additional VOIP lines at no extra cost other than the
router which needed upgrading any way.

Call savings I have yet to verify, but as an example I was using
talktalk on their talk3 tarif which, as a significant amount of our
calls were to mobiles, there will be enough of a saving each month to
cover the line rental of the BT line. Also not forking out for the £10
or whatever for the Talk3 (unlimited national calls) will cover the
rental of the Telewest phone line.

Currently all calls still come in on BT so no problems with calls
dropping out.

Admittedly, your average single line user wouldn't significantly
benefit, but anyone with teenagers in the house could benefit hugely by
having an extra line or 2 with cheap calls.

I am a convert already and it's only been 2 days.
